Sounds are fun.
This morning Meg and I visited the doctor. It was an ordinary enough checkup to make sure that the new one was coming along as planned and on the surface it was as billed. Ordinary and otherwise uneventful. I suppose that's pretty good as I've been hoping that pregnancy is ordinary. One can imagine the difficulties of an out-of-the ordinary pregnancy (no, we're not having multiples). Well, the visit was pretty standard until the doctor used a tool that I like to think of as a tummy-stereo and we were able to hear the kid's heartbeat. It was fast, 150 bpm, and sounded awfully similar to one rhythmically banging on a duct. Now, I'm what many people consider a geek and take to fascination in the strangest things, but it was a great sound. Through all the technical and industrial processes that modern medicine is, it was wonderful to know that the little bugger who will soon occupy much of our time is alive and well.

I believe it sounds like a car driving along a road - like in the movie "Sneakers".
