Happy Thankswinter!

We had a great, albeit short, trip to the cabin for Thanksgiving this fall. Dan and Kelly, my parents and grandparents, and Eric & Kathy's family all trekked up to Park Rapids for the holiday. Being northern Minnesota, we stayed in the cabins that have actually have heat and thanks to the Doughertys purchase of the adjoining property, there was enough room for everyone! My experiment this year was deep-frying the supplemental turkey (you know, to ensure left-overs), which turned out much better than expected. It took a little less than two hours to complete; a timeline no doubt extended by the extreme temperatures. Dan and I did enjoy a nice glass of pre-dinner wine on the deck while monitoring the frying, where our glasses got colder the longer we stood out there (note to self: thank James for having not having Schneeman-like tiny feet & real winter boots I could borrow). Cold, but beautiful.
Ah, winter. It is a truly calming experience, the first big snowfall. Meg took Fritz outside to play in the snow, to which he discovered it's very difficult to climb around in when your only two feet tall. Hilarious for us, chilly for him. I'm sure he'll grow into it. Or if he doesn't when he gets older we'll have an excuse to visit a warm climate in the winter.
