Yup, kids are all like that!

This past weekend we had the pleasure of adding two little ladies to our mix for about 36 hours. Matt and Meg Drew, friends of ours from Marquette, were in town for a wedding and wanted to go kid-less (good idea!). So Lucy and Vivi joined our little family for the day on Saturday and then stayed with us overnight. Which meant that we had four kids all under the age of four - not something that I would necessarily recommend for sanity or down-time.

We had a great time with the girls playing outside and having a pizza party. All the kids even slept through the massive thunderstorm that made its way through during the middle of the night. But the best part about the entire time that they were here was I was again reminded that my children are perfectly normal. I have inherited a trait from my Gram where I worry incessantly about everything. (Seriously, it is inherited.) Of course this mostly means that my kiddos get the brunt of my concern over really stupid stuff. I guess that's all part of the package deal with you become a mommy.

After being able to spend time with Lucy and Vivi, I was once again reminded that my constant battles with Fritz are normal. Apparently we are raising a child that is slightly independent, likes to do things his way, and has figured out what makes me mad. You would think after spending my entire day with 7th and 8th graders I would be immune to these kinds of behaviors and they would just roll off my back. Nope. Regardless of age, kids are going to push against those that "know best."

In addition our neighbor across the street and I had the same conversation yesterday afternoon.

So thank you to Michele, Matt and Meg for showing me that I am not a bad parent because I put limits on my kids, make them be respectful, put them in Time Out when they don't behave, and being ok when Fritz gives me his "I'm mad at you" face. It was incredibly refreshing to be reminded - again - that all kids are like that!

Meg- You're an awesome Mommy! Can you imagine how crazy us schneemonsters made chris and cathy? I have mad love for your perfectly normal (yet totally ridiculously good looking) family.
