So this past weekend we traveled down to Omaha for my best friend's wedding - talk about a wedding weekend no one will soon forget. We made it into town on Friday night and shortly after we arrived torrential rains poured out of the skies and most of Omaha lost power - including the church where we had the rehearsal and the restaurant where the rehearsal dinner was held. (Carl actually has video from the storm and if I knew how to add that I would, so you may see the river that was my parents' street in a later post.) However, luckily everyone took it in stride and we had pizza by candlelight and everyone had a great time.
Needless to say the power was still not on the next day. The hair salon only had half of its power back, but that was enough to make sure everyone got their hair done. The church, however, still did not have any power...until about 45 minutes before the ceremony was to begin. Thankfully the wedding went off without a hitch....
We were lucky enough to get to ride around Omaha in style and we made stops at the BoysTown fire station where Nick (the groom) is a volunteer firefighter and then we headed down to Omaha's Rosenblatt Stadium - home of the College World Series (and the Omaha Royals) and the location of the proposal last summer. If you are not familiar with Rosenblatt Stadium, it is an Omaha legend that will soon be torn down to make a new stadium for the College World Series. Given this, it was pretty spectacular to be on the field and able to take pictures in a place that will soon be turned into an expansion for the zoo. I even ran the bases in my dress and heels...

The remainder of the evening went off without a hitch (except for the bride breaking her champagne glass during the Matron of Honor's speech). I can honestly say this is one wedding that I will not soon forget. Congratulations Kathleen and Nick! You guys throw one crazy, unpredictable party.
