Experiments in Houses
I forgot to shut the sprinklers off last night (I was stoked up after watching Tropic Thunder) and awoke this morning to Meg calmly asking "why is there water coming out of the house?" What we learned after the ground frost left this spring is that there's a great underground drainage channel along the edge of our house that has deteriorated at the end of the line over time and subsequently drops off quite large quantities of water in our garage. This wouldn't be such a big deal except that the garage is directly connected to the basement and wet toes while watching TV isn't that much fun. Post-overnight lawn watering, I'm sure that the backyard became saturated and water found its way through familiar channels forming some moderate puddles around my lawn care tools. At least the lawn should be green in the Minnesota drought we've been having. Major project number shall be added to the register behind a new roof and before basement remodeling/insulating. I love being a home owner.
