¡Granice el rey!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! I had the unique opportunity to drive a car for Euros, Prince of the East Wind in the parade this past Saturday. It's a funny perspective being in a support role in a parade. While all the royalty are waving, smiling, and handing out bead neclaces (a parade must), you're watching how crazy all the spectators are. It's really funny, watching the excitement and shouting of people and also the let down when the parade goes by without receiving a trinket from the participants. Suprisingly, it's both adults and kids. Children ride a rollercoaster of emotion but soon forget that they didn't "get" anything while adults are visually upset and seemed to take the unintentional denial of the parade walkers personally.
All hail the King! I can't say how fun it was watching children gravitate to the King and Princes, and all the girls complementing the queeen and princesses beauty. Such a sea of humanity. Ole! Notos sirs the Mexican-American croud along Wabasha/Cesar Chavez/Concord Street in St. Paul. Yes, it changes names three times in a five-block stretch in the West Side.
