Every time when New Year's Eve rolls around I get sentimental. Call it old age, call it boredom; but whatever it is it always gets me reminiscing about all the activities we have been a part of over the past year.
We have a lot to be thankful for. First and foremost, of course, is Fritz. Now he is three months old and I swear learns a new trick every day. Yesterday it was a true little kid laugh. Never before has laughter sounded so sweet.

Two of Carl's friends got married this past year, and we were lucky enough to be a part of both weddings. Thankfully Brendan got married in Arizona in February, so we got ourselves a nice little winter vacation. To anyone who has never visited Arizona, I highly recommend it. I had never been down there and was truly amazed at the lack of grass and amount of cacti. (It does not take much to amuse me.) Mike and Katie got married in August here in Minnesota. This wedding was extra special because they were friends that one day discovered there was a spark.

We also both had siblings get married this past fall/winter.

And then we had the onslaught of friends have kids of their own. Right now I think that there are too many to mention, but I know that 2010 will bring even more. Nothing like jumping on the bandwagon, huh?
Then there was the reign of King Boreas Rex LXXIII.

And who could forget house remodeling and barbecuing and cabining (I know, it's not a word, but I needed to keep my parallel sentence structure going) and bachelor partying?

So, as we say goodbye to 2009 and hello to 2010, "Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us." ~Hal Borland
