Fritz's Baptism

The weekend of October 18th, we celebrated Fritz's baptism. My entire family made the trip from Omaha! It was an amazing experience because I have never had my whole family in Minnesota before. My brother Nick had never traveled to the Twin Cities before, and none of my siblings had met Fritz before that weekend. Lucy, Carl's sister, had also not had a chance to see Fritz yet. He was spoiled rotten all weekend long - but that's not too different from what happens every day.

Pat (filled in for James Dougherty, Fritz's godfather), Anne Dougherty (Fritz's godmother), Carl, Meg, Fr. Dave McCauley
Chris, Cathy, Meg, Fritz, & CarlBill, Carolyn, Meg, Fritz, & Carl

Chris and Cathy hosted dinner on Saturday night and we ate an incredible spread of food - just like we always do when we head over to the Schneeman's for dinner. There was tons of chatting, drinking of good wine and beer, and cigar smoking to be had over the course of the weekend. We introduced Nick, my sister Kristen, and my future brother-in-law Casey to Cecil's - a fantastic little deli here in St. Paul; we watched the Huskers lose; and we enjoyed Juicy Lucys at Shamrock's. (If you have never had one of these, next time you're in the Twin Cities, Carl and I will happily introduce you.) It was so great to be able to have everyone here for the weekend.

I already mentioned to both Fritz and Pat that his real godfather would have minimally worn a sport coat; probably a suit. Pat did have a nice tie, though.

Sorry I missed it, Fritzer. I promise to be there for, um, say, forever. Let the perpetual guardianship to insure fulfilment of baptismal vows begin! Oh, and the present buying!
